Members of the Recognition Council can register for the presidential election

According to reports EconomyNews According to IRNA, during the review of the amendment to the articles of the Presidential Election Law of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the deputies of the Islamic Consultative Assembly agreed with the proposal of “Nasrullah Pejmanfar”, the representative of Mashhad and neighborhoods in paragraph C of Article 10.

In this paragraph, it is stated that the secretary of the Supreme National Security Council or the secretary of the Expediency Discernment Council have the possibility to register in the presidential elections, which was replaced by “secretary” at Pejmanfar’s suggestion.

Today’s deputies also opposed the proposal of Hassan Shojaei Aliabadi, the representative of the people of Abhar, Khorramdareh and Soltanieh in paragraph “Ch” of Article 10, to replace the term metropolitan city with the mayor of cities with a population of more than two million people.

“Alireza Salimi,” the representative of the people of Mahallat and Delijandar, warned the constitution about the brave proposal, stating that the law should not be ambiguous, said: in paragraph (ch) it is not specified which cities are meant by metropolis; Because a metropolis is a general term that should not be mentioned in law.

“Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf,” the speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, while not receiving this warning, said: “The said cases are only for the registration of people in the elections.” In other words, before, anyone who was literate could register to vote.

The Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly emphasized: Metropolises are defined in the Ministry of Interior and cities with a population of over one million are considered metropolises. In the case of deputies, too, ambiguity has been removed.

The Speaker of the Legislature stated that it is not necessary to limit the registration conditions, noting that the Guardian Council is responsible for determining the eligibility of individuals after registration, and the parliament only organizes the unhealthy situation before registration, and it is better to allow more people to register within this framework. .
