The secretary general of the Union Party was diagnosed with leukemia and admitted to the blood ward of Shariati Hospital.

Ali Shakoori Rad, the secretary general of the Ittihad-e-Mellat party, who has been hospitalized since being diagnosed with Covid 19 last Thursday, reported on his hospitalization and tests in a message he sent to his family and friends yesterday.

The text of Shakoori Rad’s note is as follows:

Praise be to God, I feel better and slept last night without using oxygen. As you know, I was admitted with a diagnosis of Covid, but from day one, the CT scan findings were questionable that Covid was alone. Laboratory findings showing that hemoglobin was extremely low and blood platelets were very low prompted hospital hematologists to prepare and examine peripheral blood smears. They thought that my disease was not Covid and that I should be tested for blood disease, so I was transferred to the blood ward of Shariati Hospital.

I had a bone marrow biopsy yesterday, and the relevant experts, seeing the slide, think that my disease is AML. Acute Myeloid Leukemia is a type of bone marrow cancer. Fortunately, with new techniques, there are effective treatments for this type of cancer that will probably start for me today and tomorrow. For this reason, I may stay in this ward for another month to complete the chemotherapy process.

The medical and nursing staff here are extremely good, and yesterday everything was done, including a bone marrow biopsy and CV-line implantation to start chemotherapy as soon as possible and with the best quality.

Expressing the love of relatives, friends and colleagues regularly comes to me and their prayers are encouraging. I thank God that I have this amount of prayers and I am sure that with the help of their good prayers and divine grace, I will overcome this problem.
