According to the Mehr news agency, quoting Al-Maluma, Hassan Karim al-Kaabi, the first deputy speaker of the Iraqi parliament, called for a supra-parliamentary session attended by Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi and Allawi, the finance minister and head of the country’s central bank.
The media office of the first deputy speaker of the Iraqi parliament said in a statement: Al-Kaabi called for an extraordinary session of the parliament in the presence of Mustafa al-Kadhimi and the Minister of Finance and the Central Bank to examine the consequences of the dollar exchange rate increase. The purpose of this meeting is to deal with the consequences of the sudden rise in the price of the dollar and to provide a solution to support the poor and low-income groups.
On the other hand, Hibat al-Halbousi, a member of the Iraqi parliament, said: “The government of al-Kadhimi, especially the Minister of Finance, has proved to be a failure, and there is deep dissatisfaction among political groups.”
He added: “There is an agreement on the dismissal of Minister of Finance Abdul Amir Allawi.”
Abdul Amir al-Taiban, a representative of the Fatah coalition, also said that al-Kadhimi’s government had failed to manage the crisis and that parliament was seeking to host al-Kadhim and his advisers.
Mohammad al-Baldavi, another member of the Iraqi parliament, said that al-Kadhimi’s government had achieved nothing but distrust of the Iraqi people. The government has failed in all areas of economy and services.
